Parish Health Comm. minutes, 5 June, 2008

Submitted for Vestry Info by Vicki Hesse on 7 June 2008

The committee was called to order by co-chair J Hays at 5:15 in the lounge with members M. Jardine, M. Staton, G. Constantine in attendance. V. Hesse arrived later.

The first order of business was to discuss the youth program for this fall. John has a contact with the OSU director of student conduct & Vicki had submitted the name of Carrie Geis from OSU. John will have a meeting with them along with Craig to develop the program, probably on the 14th or 21st of September.

We said a reminder that Larry Mullins will be our 8 June speaker at the adult Forum.

The committee decided to volunteer to do a coffee hour this summer.

The fall “Managing your own health care” talks was discussed. While the three part series was still supported it was tentatively decided to find one person to be a coordinator for all three sections of panels on 1) the current status/limitations, 2) navigating the system, &3) what the future may be.

Maureen will try to contact a person who works in the Governors office to seek advice. The program may be moved to winter.

Other speakers for fall: Maureen will contact C. Cole to see if she will do a nutrition talk & B. Black will be contacted to see if he will assist in locating a a fitness/exercise person.

The committee wished Vicki well in her travels & transition to North Carolina.

Meeting concluded at 6:20.
